If you intend to climb Mt Damavand, the safest, the best , and the quickest way form Tehran is:
Tehran > Polour Camp > Base Camp > Bargah Sevom Camp > Damavand Summit , and fallow the same way back for your return. if you have enough time and energy left ! also visit this interesting place Icefall of damavand 5100 M .

5- Gravel Road Junction 1
start of gravel road to base camp damavand , you may start climbing to damavand from here , specially when it is imposible to use the gravel road by car because of snow and ice condition . If you travel either from Tehran or north of Iran to mount damavand , you will come to this junction anyway.

7- Base Camp 3,040 m - 9,973 ft
Base camp ( Farsi Name Gosfand Sara), in this area there is a shelter , a mosque and a sheepfold , Strong cars like 4WD Jeeps carry you to this place. During summer you can find water and some food here , but I recommend to use your own. You may find mule and porter to carry your equipments to the next camp. Rember that in other seasons damavand base camp is walkout and almost resticted . This camp is not suitable for use in summer , because it is too crowded and too dirty, for acclimatization you may use camp1 or Camp3 instead and stay one night there If you need more time to acclimatize.

Farsi name for this camp is Gosfand Sara which means sheepfold.

damavand camp3 - bargah sevom camp Iranian Mount Federation Camp / Shelter . Bargah Sevom GPS Landmark ( 29 May 2006 ) place for night rest , when you go to damavand summit, you better stay at least one night here , one extra night at this place for acclimatization is perfect. This shelter is too crowded to be suitable for use in summer, you may use your own tent for better comfort and privacy. You may find water, some food , rent tent and sleeping bag at this place ( summer only), but it is recommended to bring and use your own equipments .

Note:
Regarding the height of Mount Damavand , I believe hand held GPS unit results are not so accurate to refer to as a reliable reference , and I think it worth to do some accurate measurements with some sophisticated equipments like advanced differential GPS on damavand .
